Traffic from Google Images

As you know, Im currently trying to learn as much as possible from the 5 months absence I took from the earning money online business.
This time I want to look at using Google Images to drive traffic.

Easy traffic from Google Images
One of my blogs that I just launched shortly before my absence kept receiving around 50 to 60 visitors a day despite the fact that it was a just launched blog with very little content and no incoming links or promotion done what so ever. This traffic was mainly coming from Google Images.
How do you achieve traffic from Google Images? It’s easy:

  • Use a lot of good quality images in your postings
  • Choose good and relevant keywords you want to target with your images
  • Name your images carefully with those keywords
  • Choose the text around the images carefully and use the keywords
  • Use alt text on your images using again your keywords

Of course there is more you can do to optimize further, but this will get you on the way already just nicely.

Traffic from Google Images any good?
So this seems like a nice and easy way to improve your traffic, and thus earnings right?
Well… let’s look at the money I got from those Google Images visitors.
The 50 to 60 visitors a day over a period of 5 months (quick and rough calculation: 7500 visitors) earned me the grand total of $18.17.
That’s something like $0.0023 / visitor

In comparison; another website of mine that gets it’s traffic from both referring sites and Google Search made $152,86 in April for 16,949 visitors. That’s $0.0090 /visitor
So this traffic generates almost 4 times more money then from Google Images. Of course this is not a very fair comparison, since Im comparing between 2 different sites, but it’s just to give you a rough idea about the value of Google Images Traffic.

How is this for you all? Are you targeting Google Images specifically? How much money do you make from Google Images?

Selling text links: Smart or Stupid?

One of my last posts before my absence was about the fact that it seemed like selling text links would harm you in Google.
Since then we know for sure that selling text links harms your PR. Many people had to take a hit on their PageRanks for many of their sites. One of my sites went from PR 5 to PR 3.
But is this such a bad thing actually?

Income vs Traffic
Looking at my earnings during my absence, you can see that my steady income level is around $200,-
Sure, my TextLinkAds earnings were hurt by the PR downgrade ($22,50/month -> $12,- / month), but my search engine rankings weren’t affected. I received the same amount of traffic, despite the PR downgrade and as a result the same amount of AdSense earnings (for that specific website). So the only bad thing here is that I received less from programs as TLA and the reviewme alikes.

Earning money through TNX
On the other hand, I increased my text links selling by trying out the program TNX. This earned me $109,80 in the last 5 months.
$109,80 income increase because of TNX vs $52,50 loss of income because of TLA = income increase of $57,30

Keep selling text links
For me the conclusion is at this point that I will keep selling text links, mainly through TNX.
What about you? Did you stop selling text links because of the actions of Google?

Earning money online in absence

I’m back…
After an absence of almost half a year I’m finally writing on this blog again and looking into the online earning money thing again.  I have been busy with all kinds of stuff, but haven’t payed attention or put in any work into earning money online.
So at this point it’s very interesting to see how I did the past 5 months.

Earning money online is hard work?
We all keep saying that earning money online is really hard work and doesn’t come as easy as some people would think and/or wish. But is it really?
Look at the graph below with my earnings:

Earning Money Online Graph

The drop in earnings due to my inactivity is clearly recognizable, but I must admit I was rather surprised about the level of earnings that would prove to be the ’steady income level’.
Doing absolutely nothing still earned me around $200,- a month! That’s not bad I think…

Does this mean earning money online comes easy?
I don’t think so. If this proves anything, it is the importance of good interesting content:
If you have good content and pay attention to some SEO basics, you will keep receiving traffic from the search engines and from other websites pointing to your content.

Anywayz.. I’m back now and interested to see what more I can learn of my absence and if I can increase my income again and earn more than my $200 ’steady income level’.

How high is your ’steady  income level’?

New Blog

I already wrote a couple of posts about Yuwie on this blog and I also wrote some articles on my blog on my Yuwie account. I’m currently working on some more in depth social community analysis of Yuwie and I decided to throw up a special Blogger blog for this. You can find it here:

Inside Yuwie

What do you all think of it? :)

Blog Earners stats

Referals
I posted my top 10 refering sites a while ago and thought it would be nice to see how it looks today:
1. 45n5.com
2. rajawang.com
3. yuwie.com
4. pourout.wordpress.com
5. madeforadsense.nl
6. mydebtfreegoal.com
7. earnersforum.com
8. squidoo.com
9. wistudat.net
10. cashbulge.com

So 45n5 did make it #1 as he said in the comments ;)
Furthermore this shows to me the importance of commenting on other blogs/sites.
I also thought it nice to see that Yuwie is already on #3. I didn’t do much yet to atrackt visitors from there, so the potential of Yuwie is good.

Alexa
My Alexa rank is 487,631 at this moment. However, I’m trying out AlexaAutosurf at the moment to see if I can improve this ranking. My 1 weak average is 165,864 so that looks good.

Making money with TNX

I recently joined TNX and started testing theprogram. TNX introduces themselves as follows:

TNX combines the benefits of Contextual Advertising, Text Link Brokers and Relevant Exchange of permanent non-reciprocal text links.

What they basically offer is the opportunity to buy and sell links on specific pages on websites. It’s not about sidewide links nor about homepage only links; you can buy and sell links at any page within a site/blog.

Buying links
To test the program I purchased 10$ worth of points and started a link campaign for this Blog. At this moment I have 545 links pointing at me which costs me around 15$ /month. That’s right; that’s $0,0275 per link! Of course these aren’t PR 4 and 5 links, but that number makes up for that..

Selling links
Since I experienced how cheap links can be I didn’t expect to making a lot of money with TNX. But I was wrong, fortunately! When I logged in today I noticed that my balance was over 45$ (thats with the 15$ for my campaign already deducted). It’s all because I managed to sell 3 links on my PR 5 page ($7,20 /link) and a whole bunch on all the other pages from that site (ranging from PR 1 - 4).

Conclusion
I think this is really a great program and besides getting me more links (and visitors) it also gives me a good opportunity to gain revenue of my sites.
I’ll keep testing and tweaking to optimize my income and will definitely keep you posted on how I’m doing with TNX.

In Google Main Index without any links?

While setting up a new blog (it’s about all kinds of nice to know facts), I discovered that Google indexed the site almost immediately, even though I don’t have any links pointing to it!
Not only did Google index a blogposting; it indexed 4 pages (including the home) of the site!

So how did Google found my site?
There are two possibilities I can think of:

  1. I had put a screenshot on the domain, and posted the url in a Google Group
However, the url to the image isn’t indexed.
  2. A WordPress blog pings rpc.pingomatic.com by default on new posts.

Considering the fact that Technorati and Google BlogSearch both have 1 post indexed of the blog, it’s safe to assume it’s due to pingomatic that the new site is already in Google’s Main Index. Not only is Google using the blogsearch as a source for the main index, they also use it as a source of url’s to crawl for the main index apparantly

The site isn’t included in Yahoo or MSN yet, so the pinging only will get you into Google automatically.

Selling text links will harm your PR

Danny Sullivan writes on search engine land that it’s official: selling paid links will harm your PR.

He noticed that the PR of The Stanford Daily had dropped from 9 to 7. He ‘pinged Google’  about it and they confirmed that some sites had their PR lowered because of the fact that they were selling links.

Will this stop people from selling links? Will you give up this income in order to keep your PR to benefit from other forms of revenue?

Blog Earners Report for September

It might be that I’m a bit early with the Blog Earners Report this month, but there are only 13 blogs in it at the moment.
We can welcome one newcomer: knupNET, who enters the list at #9 with an income of $259,15 in September.
I hope the others will disclose their earnings in the next few days, cause it would be a pitty if less blogs are reporting on their online income.

The thirteen blogs in the Report for September managed to earn a total of $41,251.39 which is $3,173.18 on average.
John Chow and Everton are again the number 1 and 2.
9 out of the 13 blogs managed to increase their earnings compared to August. Well done everyone!

SEO Case Study

MarketingHub.info posted a nice SEO case study. It shows how he went from zero to 400 Google visits a day within a month.
It’s a good and simple SEO case study. Learn from it! :)
